Namaste Yogis-
I hope you are doing well! I am currently participating in a 30 Day Reels Challenge on Instagram. The prompt for today was to share your top books! There are so many books that I love so choosing just a few was a bit of a challenge for me. Since reels only give you 15 seconds, I thought you might like to look further into what these books are about!!
For Daily Inspiration:
Journey to the Heart by Melody Beattie This book has daily meditations for a whole year. Every time I share a reading from this book in a yoga class, someone always asks what book I was reading from! I love to turn to any page in this book when I need a little inspiration or pick me up!
To Help Live Your Best Life:
The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein I dog-eared and highlighted so many pages of this book! If you are struggling right now or if you wanting to make a change in your life, this book is for you! Through universal laws, this book helps to guide you to your true purpose.
To Learn About the Yoga Sutras:
True Yoga by Jennie Lee If you are interested in living your yoga off the mat this book is a gem! There are many interpretations of the Yoga Sutras and I find this one to be the easiest one to understand. The end of each chapter has daily practices, questions for further reflection, and affirmations to post and remember. As a yoga teacher, I have referenced this book often to share information about the sutras with my students.
How Yoga Works by Gesne Michael Roach and Christie Mc Nally I think this is my all time favorite yoga books. This book is also explores The Yoga Sutras but through story. I actually thought this book was out of print but when I looked it up today, I was pleasantly surprised it is available! My copy is full of post-its and highlights from when I read it in 2010! I actually think I might re-read this book again now that I have it out. I am not one to reread books so that says a lot about how much I love this book! It will be interesting to see if 10 years later I would still be highlighting the same passages.
If you have a book to recommend or thoughts about any of these books, please comment below! I always love to hear from you!!!
Be Well,
🙂 Nicole
